Billionaire entrepreneur and Dallas Mavericks minority owner Mark Cuban has voiced his support for President Joe Biden ahead of the 2024 presidential race. In a statement featured by Bloomberg on March 4, Cuban expressed his unwavering endorsement, stating he would choose Biden over Donald Trump even if Biden were gravely ill.

Additionally, Cuban indicated his intention to cast a protest vote for Nikki Haley in the Texas Republican primary as a form of dissent against the former president. Notably, Cuban, who previously expressed interest in being a Republican in 2015 due to his advocacy for a leaner and more efficient government, has now taken a different stance.

In December 2023, the NBA greenlit Mark Cuban’s transfer of a majority stake in the Dallas Mavericks to two families associated with the casino and hotel sectors. As a result, Cuban presently holds a 27% ownership in the team while retaining authority over basketball operations. Notably, Cuban had earlier endorsed the suspension of Donald Trump’s social media accounts in 2021, likening Trump’s language to knowingly marketing a product for malicious intents.

Cuban has raised doubts about the true billionaire status of Trump. Following a civil fraud lawsuit that found Trump guilty of inflating his wealth on financial documents to secure more favorable loan terms, Trump was mandated to pay $355 million plus interest.

Cuban has disavowed any intention of pursuing a presidential campaign himself, despite earlier hints suggesting the possibility. He has insinuated that Trump’s alignment with all Republican party principles is questionable, labeling him as more of a nominal Republican.

Cuban emphasized his preference for traditional politics by openly favoring the Biden-Harris administration over Trump’s. He pointed out Biden’s focus on detailed policies and described the 81-year-old president as deliberate and meticulous. Drawing a comparison, the entrepreneur likened Trump to a seller of deceptive remedies, insinuating that Trump’s supporters are indifferent to the effectiveness of his offerings.
