Karine Jean-Pierre, the White House press secretary, received negative feedback on social media for her response to the economy on Thursday.

Peter Doocy of Fox News questioned Jean-Pierre on why she believed 88 percent of Americans believed the nation was headed in the wrong direction at the White House press briefing. While maintaining that President Biden had a strategy to combat inflation, Jean-Pierre persisted in blaming rising costs on Putin’s tax increase and the conflict in Ukraine.

“I don’t think it’s because our plan is not popular with the American people. We know that the American people are feeling the high costs. We understand what they are feeling because when you look at inflation — when you look at where we are economically, and we are stronger economically than we have been in history, when you look at the unemployment numbers at 3.6%, when you look at the jobs numbers, more than 8.7 million new jobs created. That is important,” Jean-Pierre answered.

The claim that our economy is stronger in the midst of record-high inflation was soon made fun of on Twitter.

Every American, with the exception of, however, those who work in the Biden White House, is aware that this is untrue, according to Texas Senator Ted Cruz.

Tim Young, a columnist for the Washington Times, tweeted, “They think you’re stupid,”

We are in a recession, according to the Atlanta Fed’s Q2 estimate. This is just gaslighting, business writer Carol Roth said.

Matt Whitlock, a Republican spokesperson, tweeted, “Saying this when 85% of the country thinks we are on the wrong track is the Biden administration in a nutshell. They haven’t learned anything from calling inflation transitory, and a high class problem.”

Although First Lady Jill Biden is an enthusiastic member of the National Education Association, Jean-Pierre declined to comment on the group’s request to change the word “mother” in contracts to “birthing parent” at the press conference.
