According to reports, local officials have erected towering fences and metal barriers outside private residences to prevent inhabitants from fleeing the city’s current COVID-19 epidemic. The decision has sparked outrage and grief, with one social media user joking that it’s nothing more than a fire danger.

Many of the structures were built in the city’s sealed zones, where at least one individual tested positive for COVID-19. Even if they do not have the virus, those who live in a sealed region are not allowed to leave their houses.

No one can get out, according to a local, adding, “I feel helpless. You don’t know when the lockdown is going to end. If your area gets fenced off, what if a fire breaks out? I don’t think anyone in their right mind can seal people’s homes.”

A video showcasing the city’s awful circumstances is circulating the internet. Unverified audio samples of the local populace criticizing poor food supply and talking about medical problems are featured in the six-minute montage.

On Sunday, the city registered 16,983 COVID-19 symptomatic cases, 2,472 asymptomatic cases, and 39 COVID-19 deaths.
