Documents released to the public revealed that Hunter Biden, the son of President Biden, was indicted in California on Thursday on numerous tax charges. The indictment pertains to Hunter Biden’s alleged failure to settle nearly $200,000 in income tax for the year 2019.
Special Counsel David Weiss has utilized a federal grand jury based in Los Angeles to amass evidence concerning Hubter Biden’s potential criminal tax fraud.
In October, Hunter Biden entered a plea of not guilty to federal gun charges in the U.S. District Court for the District of Delaware. These charges stemmed from Weiss’ extensive investigation spanning several years.
The events on Thursday precede an anticipated vote by House Republican leaders next week. This vote aims to formally launch an impeachment inquiry into President Biden concerning potential connections to his son’s business transactions.

At the beginning of the week, James Comer, the House Oversight Committee Chairman from Kentucky, disclosed subpoena bank records. These records revealed that Joe Biden has been receiving direct monthly payments from an entity owned by Hunter Biden.
Comer credited the indictment on Thursday to the courage of two IRS whistleblowers, Gary Shapley and Joseph Ziegler.
“The Department of Justice got caught in its attempt to give Hunter Biden an unprecedented sweetheart plea deal. Every American should applaud these men for their courage to expose the truth. Unless U.S. Attorney Weiss investigates everyone involved in the Bidens’ fraud schemes and influence peddling, it will be clear President Biden’s DOJ is protecting Hunter Biden and the big guy.”
The White House has consistently asserted that President Biden did not engage in any wrongdoing and was unaware of his son’s business transactions. On the other hand, House Republicans have cautioned Hunter Biden, indicating their intention to pursue contempt of Congress charges if he fails to participate in a closed-door deposition scheduled for December 13.
Hunter Biden has maintained that he is willing to testify before the House, but he prefers the proceedings to be public. He expresses concerns about closed-door testimonies being selectively leaked and utilized to manipulate facts, potentially distorting the historical record and misleading the public.
